In our house, we try very hard to swap out a store bought item with a handmade. I have been doing this for a while now that I feel more confident in myself as we have been making swaps for healthier alternatives for several years now.

There is no doubt in my mind that our food industry is literally out to make us sick. Our foods are so full of toxic preservatives and bioengineered food. Like what? Not even made of REAL food!!

So, as we came upon emptying out our bottle of ketchup, my husband kept telling me to make our own, so I set out to do just that. I have perfected the recipe and it is a big hit in our house now! Bonus, it’s super simple to make and comes together pretty easily!

How to make homemade ketchup

Ingredients:

  • 15 oz of tomato sauce or 1 can
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a slow boil and immediately turn to a simmer. Allow to reduce and thicken for 20-30 minutes. Pour into a container and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or more.

Use your own discretion on expiration date. My family goes through this amount before it has ever gone bad.

And there you have it! It really is that easy! I promise you can make this and it’s so good. Yes, it is still high in sugar, but it is not full of dyes and preservatives.
